Kathmandu International Arbitration Center (KIAC) is a professional institution established to provide comprehensive services related to the resolution of commercial and investment disputes among the parties. It is established under Nepal’s Company Act, 2006 as a “Profit Not Distributing Company,” meaning its primary goal is not to generate profits but to serve the public interest by promoting effective dispute resolution. The institution’s core mandate is to facilitate arbitration, offering a neutral and effective platform for dispute resolution. This institution is strategically located within walking distance from Kathmandu District Court, High Court Patan, Special Court and Supreme Court of Nepal.

Arbitration is a private, legally binding method of resolving disputes outside of the courtroom. It is generally faster, more confidential, and less formal than traditional litigation, with decisions made by a neutral arbitrator.

Any individual, business, or organization—domestic or international—can initiate arbitration at KIAC, provided all parties agree to resolve their dispute through arbitration.

KIAC provides a panel of certified and experienced arbitrators. Parties can mutually agree on an arbitrator, or KIAC can appoint one based on the nature of the dispute and required expertise.
