The Youth in Arbitration seminar aims to introduce students and emerging legal professionals to arbitration as a vibrant and rewarding career path. Hosted by Kathmandu School of Law in partnership with the Arbitration Student Network Nepal, this half-day event offers motivational sessions, mentorship networking, and practical guidance.
The program opens with a keynote speech by a senior CIArb fellow, who will share global trends and skills needed to enter arbitration. Attendees will be guided through the history and fundamentals of arbitration, covering both ad hoc and institutional models.
Panel discussions will highlight paths for young professionals, focusing on moot courts, online arbitration certifications, and internships at ADR institutions. Recent graduates will share how they secured roles at arbitration centers in Singapore and London.
A dedicated CV-building session will help attendees tailor applications for ADR roles. LinkedIn profile audits and mock interviews will also be available. Students will be able to join breakout groups to network with arbitrators, recruiters, and faculty mentors.
An interactive game, “Arbitrate This!”, will engage participants in solving hypothetical legal conflicts through simulated arbitration.
The event will conclude with a call to action, encouraging law schools to establish arbitration clubs and include ADR modules in their curriculum. Certificates of participation and digital access to presentation slides and speaker contact info will be provided.
The initiative is expected to boost interest and competence among youth in Nepal’s developing arbitration landscape.
